Bio

Volcano Victims is the recording project of Gaui, born and raised in Reykjavík, Iceland. He wrote songs in private for many years before sharing them publicly. After moving to Berlin, Gaui found like-minded musicians and began performing under the Volcano Victims name.

His early music was shaped by Iceland’s dark winters, resulting in a melancholic debut EP with gentle melodies. Over time, his sound shifted toward brighter, more uplifting tones influenced by Berlin’s carefree summers, creating a distinctive blend of moods and colours.

The self-titled debut LP, released on February 12, 2021, features songs dating back to 2004, reworked and enriched over the years. Hanna Magdalena Gödl leads the vocals on most tracks, her voice moving between fragile, playful, and powerful.

In recent years, Volcano Victims has performed live only on rare occasions. The lineup consists of Yanina, Jannik, Marion, Galina, and Gaui. A small number of songs recorded with this lineup are scheduled for release in 2026.
